Senior Research Engineer
Emmanuel Muzangaza is a Senior Research Engineer at The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), home to National Centre for Additive Manufacturing in UK MTC. He obtained his MSc (by research) in Additive Manufacturing (AM) material and metallurgy from University of Birmingham in the UK. Over the past 8 years his role has enabled him to tackle the many challenges of incorporating this fascinating AM technology. This has enabled him to support the research and development of AM from low to high Technology readiness levels in Aerospace , Motorsport, Space and Automotive as Chartered Engineer.
In 2019, he lead the AM project team at The MTC, in partnership with Oxford Brookes formula one students, AM was used to produce titanium uprights giving a 50% weight saving. The motorsport car was awarded: TOP UK Team Overall and 2nd Overall among other award.
Among other projects, he used AM -Electron Beam Melting (EBM) technology to culminate in the world’s first and largest Rolls Royce additively manufactured component, at 1.5 metres in diameter. He is currently the AM Technical Lead for Oxford Brookes Motorsport in collaboration with MTC, His is also AM NADCAP sub-team committee and ASTM member of accreditation to support and consultation in the qualification of AM into many high value manufacturing applications such as aerospace, automotive and medical applications.
